Bio
Chelsea América Torres is a San Francisco based artist with a focus in performance, video, and analog photography. Using the visual language of cartoons, and inspired by the narrative framework of children’s literature, Chelsea performs tasks and gestures within real and fabricated domestic environments. She builds worlds mimicking the domestic spaces in old cartoons, inspired by their presentation of home as the site for epic and heroic feats, danger, destruction, disaster, and magic. Chelsea is in her final year of the MFA program at San Francisco State University and lives in Potrero Hill with her three children.
